The information contained in this document describes the theoretical
limits imposed by the MPE/iX System Software. In many cases, these
limits were obtained by calculating the theoretical maximums based on
the table or object's total size and entry sizes.
Please note that these limits apply to the 5.5 system release only.
This document was derived from the Limits Document for release 5.0. The
material is believed to be accurate, but given the fact that 5.5
has not been offically released and the fact that this document is still under
review, its content is not gaurenteed.
Structure of document
The information is divided into four sections. The first
section describes limits and/or resource usage by the
Operating System. You
will notice that this section is divided into functional
areas (eg. Job/Session, File System, etc.). Within each
functional area, one or more limits are stated along
with the system table or resource which imposes the
limit. Using the number that corresponds to the particular
limit you are interested in, you may refer to a written
description of that resource which is also included
within the section. If you see a '~' in front of a stated
limit, this implies that the limit is variable or approximate.
Generally, limits tagged with a '~' character are derived
based on a (sometimes) formula. For most of these formulas
there are several variables which can on be estimated,
modeled or assumed. The actual limit on your system
could be quite different. In these cases, you should
definitely refer to written descriptions.
Following the information about the Operating System, there is one
section that describes limits and resource usage for the
Data Communications software
,
Turbo Image
, and
ALLBASE/SQL
.
