Lab description

At the HP e3000 Solution Symposium on Feb 9, 2001, I presented a lab activity that allowed the attendees to play with a simple set of Java classes that compute standings of NFL teams when given data about games played during a season.

Several attendees expressed interest in continuing to play with the lab, so I'm making it available for download. The nfllab.zip file, when unzipped, contains a tar file (nfl.tar) with all the Java classes, and a Microsoft Word document describing the lab.

If you make any of the the enhancements described in the lab activity, I'd be interested in seeing the results.

Future plans

After the symposium was over, I began to have more ambitious plans for the lab activity. I now plan to implement the same code in a number of different architectural models, to help illustrate the difference between the models (for example, applets, servlets, javabeans, Enterprise JavaBeans, etc.). For more detail, see the Application Architecture Project home page.
