3.4 Provide an example of security implemented in SQL

Key points

Summary of SQL Security:

  • The DBA normally does the following:
    • Creates views on tables.
    • Creates groups to represent each unique set of users.
    • Grants appropriate authorities to each user/group.
    • Adds users (or groups) to groups.

  • The users then access the database according to the authorities that have been granted either to them or groups to which they belong.
